Kirsten Borman Dougherty
Founder and CEO, KB Strategic Group

Hailing from a small town in Central Florida, Kirsten Borman Dougherty got her start in politics working at the state headquarters for President Bush’s 2004 re-elect in Tallahassee while she was a Freshman at Florida State University. There, Kirsten was bit by the campaign ‘bug’ and fell in love with the rush of political work. In 2005, Kirsten interned in the White House in the Office of Strategic Initiatives under Senior Advisor Karl Rove and Barry Jackson, further proving to her that good politics make good policy – and vice versa. Kirsten returned to Tallahassee  and continued to work in politics in the State Capitol, including Governor Jeb Bush’s executive office, Moore Consulting Group, and the Florida House Majority Office under (then) Speaker Marco Rubio.

After college, Kirsten worked for Florida political mastermind Marian Johnson at the Florida Chamber of Commerce. As Political Operations Coordinator, Kirsten managed the political interview program for the Chamber, setting up over 500 candidate interviews in 5 cities across the state. Kirsten then moved into Statewide and Congressional Major Donor Fundraising while working on several campaigns in Florida during the 2010 cycle, including Rep. Holly Benson and Congressman Dan Webster. Following Webster’s election in 2011, Kirsten moved to DC and started KB Strategic Group. Since then, Kirsten has grown the firm from a single client operation to a business with over a dozen clients, including members of Congress, candidates, PACs, and issue advocacy groups.

Kirsten’s experience working in all facets of a campaign structure are an asset, and she has continued to build a team with both strong fundraising experience and political acumen. Kirsten strives to maintain her reputation as a hard-working fundraiser who eschews the ‘big firm’ approach to fundraising and delivers consistent success for her clients.

Kirsten lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband Andrew and their two sons,
Augustus (Auggie) and Conrad. In her free time, she enjoys Peloton workouts, volunteering at her children’s amazing school (Alexandria Classical Christian Academy) and reading historical fiction.
